This is the exact way to calculate how much you should be eating according to The Book of BEAST – the body beast guide

Step 1. [100 – body fat percentage (BF)] / 100 x weight = Lean Body Mass (LBM)

Step 2. LBM x 10 = Resting Metabolic Rate (RMR)

Step 3. RMR x .3 = Caloric Modication for Recovery (CMR)

Step 4. RMR + CMR = Resting Metabolic Rate Modified for Recovery (RMR2)

Step 5. RMR2 + 600 = Caloric Intake to Maintain Weight (CIM)

Calculation for the BUILD and BULK Phases (Phase 1 and 2)

  • If BF is more than 20%: CIM + 10% of CIM = Calories needed to BUILD/BULK
  • If BF is between 20% and 10%: CIM + 15% of CIM = Calories needed to BUILD/BULK
  • If BF is less than 10%: CIM + 20% of CIM = Calories needed to BUILD/BULK

For Phase 3, do the first five steps, followed by this:

Calculation for the BEAST phase (Phase 3)

  • If BF is more than 20%: CIM – 20% of CIM = Calroies needed to BEAST
  • If BF is between 20% and 10%: CIM – 15% = Calories needed to BEAST
  • If BF is less than 10%: CIM – 10% of CIM = Calories needed to BEAST

Note: Recalculate weight and body fat between each phase

    i wanna start it sooner but i have been going to the gym for about 1 year now w/o stopping 🙂 and i dont want to take supplements wanna depend on natural food ^_^

    • You can just eat but its a lot to eat. Supplements like the protein shakes help. You can do it how you want….not everyone uses the supplements!

    I just ordered bb, I have done p90x insanity but my down fall is always diet. Is the plan difficult to understand and follow? I did the reset and that was perfect they told when what and how much to eat.

    • Hey Jason – it’s not hard to follow. Maybe the first week or two as you’re cooking new meals and eating larger portions than you’re used to. Once you get all the ingredients (seasonings) it’s pretty simple.

      My suggestion to you is choose a breakfast, lunch and dinner you are okay eating for the whole week. Prep (cook) it all on Saturday or Sunday and pack it in tupperware for the week. Then just carry your food with you for the day so you never miss a meal.

      I really think prepping is the hardest part because people get busy and lazy and don’t want to cook each meal individually. Otherwise it’s easy as long as you are eating enough calories. The book tells you exactly how much of each food category you need to eat to achieve your goals.

    Im 6’7 264 pounds and 17pct body fat according to chart. Says i should be 218 pnds. That seems to thin but ok. How many calories should i be consuming during this program.

    • Greg – just follow steps 1 to 5 at the top of the page and you can calculate your caloric intake. The body beast guide tells the portions of eat food category you should be eating to obtain your goals.

    • If you do the lean beast program you’ll lose weight and gain muscle. You won’t look fat.
