Change Doesn’t Happen In A Day or A Week

Change happens with consistent action. If you think you have changed just because you decided to do something different today, then you may be in for a shock.

Forming new habits, new patterns, different ways of thinking, or feeling, and not defaulting back to old behaviors after some initial change takes time.

Lots of people want to change. Not everyone can.

Some start.

Many give up.

From what I can tell, most give up, not because they want to, but because they didn’t even realize that they were only changing because something happened or some feeling that caused them to do something different.

Whatever that feeling was that created the initial change or thought to change, fades for most, because it is just a moment in time.

Finding ways to stay focused, stay consistent, and continue to do something…even when you question it, or don’t feel like it, or don’t know if it’s working, or yo want to go back to your old ways…That’s how change happens.

Anyone can be motivated, for a short period of time.

Not everyone can force themselves to do something that is hard or “not normal” over a period of time…discomfort makes people go back to their old ways.

Whatever you do. That’s who you become.

So the choice is yours. Do you want to be different than who you are, or do you just want to play pretend for a few days and then go back to your old ways and watch the same thing happen again and again with this cycle/pattern for years or maybe even the rest of your life.

With all things, you’re in control. The hard part is recognizing that.

Once you realize you want to change, make sure you force it.

  • Break mental barriers.
  • Do what you don’t want to.
  • Keep doing it.
  • Trust the process.
  • Find ways to remind yourself.
  • Don’t always trust your feeling.
  • Don’t give in to “tomorrow”
  • Know that accomplishing what is difficult, is much more fulfilling than what is easy.

Be Bold. Be Alpha. You’re in control.
